The usual SRD lookup asks for identity and cellphone details. If you cannot enter the right details, ask SASSA for help. A form that does not work for you does not prove you cannot get a grant.
Lost document or missing identity record?
If you know your ID number but lost the card or book, use the official SRD service and follow its current checks. The physical document and the number are different things. You may still need the document for other identity checks.
If you forgot the number, check your own secure records or contact Home Affairs through an official channel. Do not buy an identity search or share private papers in a public group.
If you do not have a South African ID number
Use the official route that matches your documents. A permit reference is not a 13-digit South African ID. Do not force it into the wrong form.
SASSA’s January 2026 eligibility notice also covers people on its grant database who have no ID document. They can have a unique number created by SASSA. The notice does not say that every online status form accepts that number.
Ask SASSA which channel can locate your record and what evidence you need. See SRD applications without an ID document for the distinction between eligibility and access to an online form.
If the registered cellphone is the problem
Use the contact-update or recovery instructions on the official SRD portal. Do not assume every number change requires a visit, or that a borrowed phone can bypass verification. Follow the route shown for your record.
If you cannot complete a required biometric check because you lack data or a device, SASSA’s January 2026 notice says local offices can assist. Ask what you need to bring before travelling.
If you are helping someone else
Get their permission and use their own correct details. Let them control verification codes and review the result. Do not keep or share their ID number, messages or screenshots without a valid reason and their consent.
If no result appears
Check which grant and month you are trying to view. An SRD result does not track every permanent grant. A loading failure does not establish a decline. Use the application-tracking guide to prepare a clear enquiry.
Call 0800 60 10 11 using the details in SASSA’s official directory. Explain which form failed and what it said. Do not send MySRD your identity records; we cannot recover or change your official account.
