SASSA Payment Dates 2026/2027: Full Grant Calendar

SASSA pays grants in a fixed monthly order. Older Persons come first. Disability is second. All Children's grants are third. SRD R370 goes out in late-month batches from around the 24th. The dates move every month. SASSA does not pay on the 1st. A public holiday or weekend can land on a payment day. Then the whole cycle shifts forward. That is why April payments cluster after Family Day. It is also why September payments shift around Heritage Day. This section carries the full 2026 month-by-month payment calendar. There are deep-dive guides too. One covers the Postbank black card that replaced the old Gold SASSA card. Another covers the collection channels left after the Post Office exited SASSA payments. A third works through the most common "I was approved but never received the money" cases. Did you miss a payment date? Money stays in your account or on your card indefinitely. You do not lose it by collecting late. The urgent question is usually which channel your grant now lands in. You will find that answer in the payment-methods guide, per grant type.

What’s inside Payments & Cards

Grant holders ask two questions more than any other. “When exactly does my money arrive?” and “Why has it not arrived yet?”. The Payments & Cards hub answers both. It carries the full 2026/2027 SASSA payment calendar approved by National Treasury in March 2026. You also get the cycle rules that shift payments around weekends and public holidays. There is a step-by-step check for a missing payment. And there are guides on the Postbank black card, CashSend collection and direct bank deposit.

A few groups get the most out of this hub. Permanent grant holders checking whether next month’s payment shifts around a public holiday. SRD R370 recipients confirming which day in the late-month batch their status page shows. And anyone whose payment did not arrive on the expected date. Is your status “Approved” but no money has landed? Work through it in order. Check the settlement window first, which is 2-3 working days after release. Next come your banking details. After that, check your card status. Then call 0800 60 10 11.

2026 updates that matter

National Treasury approved the 2026/2027 payment schedule in March 2026. The core order is unchanged. Older Persons come first, Disability second and Children’s grants third. SRD R370 goes out in late-month batches from around the 24th. The dates themselves move every month. Payments never land on a weekend, a Monday, or the day after a public holiday. Circle these shifts. Disability moves off Good Friday to 07 April 2026. Children’s moves after the Easter block to 08 April 2026. Older Persons shifts to 05 May 2026 because Workers’ Day landed on a Friday. And on 05 January 2027, Older Persons starts on the 5th. That is because 1 January is a public holiday and 2 January a Saturday. Mondays are excluded by rule.

Postbank now issues the black SASSA card. The Post Office left the payments role in 2025. Do you still hold the older Gold SASSA card? Visit any Postbank-enabled branch to swap it. Missed payment day? Money stays in your account or on the card indefinitely. Collect a day or two after payday and you skip the queues at every till and ATM.
