About MySRD: Editorial Team & 2026 Verification Standards

Updated 9 August 2026 ยท Reviewed by MySRD Editorial Team

MySRD is an independent information website. We are not the South African Social Security Agency or the Department of Social Development. MySRD has no link to any South African government body. We do not process grant applications. Nor do we review appeals or make payments. Do you need to take official action? Use the official channels listed at the bottom of this page.

Who runs MySRD

MYSRD (Pty) Ltd publishes this site. We are a private company registered in South Africa, incorporated on 6 August 2026. The Companies and Intellectual Property Commission holds our registration number, 2026/628035/07. You can check it on the CIPC register at cipc.co.za.

The MySRD Editorial Team writes and maintains the site. We are researchers who follow South African social welfare policy and grant administration. Consumer protection for grant beneficiaries is our other focus. The team checks every fact against primary sources before we publish. When SASSA policy changes, we update the article. We fix errors as soon as readers report them.

Send corrections to about@mysrd.org.za. We reply within a few working days.

What this site does

We publish plain-language 2026 guides. They cover what SASSA beneficiaries search for most. That means SRD R370 status checks, permanent grant applications, payment dates and decline reasons. It also means the appeals process and the truth about USSD, WhatsApp and Postbank card changes. Every article answers the question directly, with no ads and no dark patterns. Each one then points you to the right official channel.

How we verify facts

We check every grant amount, contact number, URL and payment date on this site. Official SASSA and government sources are what we check against. That check happens before we publish. It happens again each time we update an article.

  • Primary sources: sassa.gov.za press releases and news pages. The SRD portal at srd.sassa.gov.za. Government Gazette notices. Department of Social Development announcements.
  • Secondary sources: parliamentary Q&A transcripts. Court judgments involving SASSA, from the High Court and the Constitutional Court. Reporting by South African news outlets such as GroundUp, News24 and Daily Maverick. We use those only when they cite a primary source we can then confirm.
  • Contested facts: sometimes one source contradicts another. We flag that internally. Then we either hold the fact back or state the doubt in plain English. Guessing is not an option. Open flags include the exact current SASSA USSD code, because no current official page lists one. Another open flag is an alternate WhatsApp number. It appears on third-party sites but on no official channel.
  • Freshness: every article carries an “Updated [date]” line. That line shows when we last checked the facts. When SASSA changes an amount, we update the entity database first. The affected articles come next. Then we republish.

Corrections policy

Spot a fact here that does not match the official sources? Email about@mysrd.org.za. Send us the URL of the affected page and the correct source. We correct confirmed errors within one working day. Does the fix change the meaning of the article in a big way? Then we add a dated note at the top.

What we will never do

  • Ask you for your PIN, banking password, or one-time PIN (OTP).
  • Charge you for any SASSA-related service. SASSA services are free.
  • Promise to speed up your application or “unlock” a declined status.
  • Send you a WhatsApp or SMS that asks you to click a link and give personal details.
  • Accept paid links, sponsorships or affiliate deals on SASSA-related content.

Does someone claim to represent this site and ask you for money or personal details? That person is a scammer. Report them to SASSA on 0800 60 10 11.
